Drive is a common attribute for identifying leaders and is conveniently easy to observe even in very young people.  For example,what boss wouldn't notice the young sales rep who pushes hard to win more and more business and outshines his seasoned peers in hitting targets?

A high-potential leader, is especially important in today's environment of tumultuous change. It is the leader's passionate quest to continually learn and grow. High potential leaders seize the opportunity to take time to  "stretch" assignments that tax their abilities precisely because they are stimulated by the challenge and the opportunity to increase their knowledge  about the business, people, and the external world.

3. Potential Leaders Have Clarity
   

Leaders must also be able to comprehend  all information  provided and take a clear course of action. After gathering information from multiple sources and reviewing  several alternatives, they should  be able to determine what is important, make a decision, and act on it. Even at lower levels, information is often muddled and the right path is often unclear, but leaders with high potential find clarity and act decisively despite the uncertainty that stump others.

4.Potential  Leaders Are Honest and Dissatisfied With  Mediocrity 
 

High potential leaders are honest and have the self-confidence to acknowledge when they don't have the answers, but retain determination to find them. They are dissatisfied with incremental progress and the status quo. This insatiable thirst for learning tends to make these leaders more contemporary than their peers, and more aware of leading-edge technologies and trends.
